Re: Submachine 8: the Plan

I'd like to discuss "the Knot." I got started in the Physics of the Subnet theory discussion with the following: The Knot is its own thing, not a part of the subnet me thinks. The layers have too little in common with what we see in the subnet, and the context of the story suggests we've l...

Re: Meditations

I don't think I could ascribe to any kind of theory determinism of the universe though Oh really? Wow, I thought it was only religious people who rejected determinism. My ignorance is shown once again! I'll try to do my "religious theory" soon. :ugeek: (trying out the smiles. 8-) )

Re: The Physics of the Subnet

The "infinite stretch of blocks" are the Movers, though. You've stated that before, but we don't know that. Is every cube in the entire subnet a mover? I not think so. So what does a loop look like on the outside?
Either by breaking some laws of physics, it just appears outside as 2-4 ro...

Re: Meditations

I don't think we have the same definition of choice. Growing up in an environment where a specific belief is promoted does not imply that believing it when you are mentally capable of making your own decisions was not your choice-if you questioned your beliefs even for a moment, but they remained, ...

Re: Meditations

Oilage, I actually agree with almost everything you say, except that there is a certain determinism to any belief: you can't believe something you don't know and your more likely to believe it if your surrounded by it. There is also the massive, unarguable evidence of personal experience, and we don...

Re: Meditations

So, in the mean while I continue to research the question Isobel brought up, let me ask this: What DO you guys intend when you say crass things about other peoples deeply held beliefs? Is it just a natural humor that crops up because you find the notions so ridiculous? (I am not a Catholic, so I don...

Re: Submachine: Future Loop Foundation

I was just playing this one. Still my favorite. The start in the cell, the submachine that descends, and the projector/picture teleport are all priceless. I also like the 3 sets of numbers under the pass code reader = others have been this way. XD

Re: Meditations

I just logged on at work, which I'd rather not do, to make sure I didn't get missunderstood. That was really bugging me. Looks like I didn't. :D It has been 10 years or so since I've researched the whole issue of the acuracy of the Bible, so before I get into such a weighty discussion, I probably sh...

Re: Meditations

In my opinion, God as the impassive forces of the universe and God as an active master of the universe are essentially the same. The only difference (as I see it) between the forces of the universe and God, in concept, is that God has a personality and can answer. A god who chooses not to answer ca...

Re: Meditations

I'll state with my last statements on the old forum: "crazy teenage years" of God, so to speak, in the old testament Ha! Ok, as Ricky would say "you've some splainin to do!" We atheist usually have a strong yearning for Truth, too. Sorry, didn't mean to imply atheists weren't int...
