Re: off topic

It's deliberately very ambiguous. "Empathy" is a noun - it's something that a person possesses or experiences to a certain degree. "... of empathy" is a property of something. An action can be taken out of empathy, publicity around someone's misfortune may cause an outpouring of ...

Re: The third administration: Welcome, dev & issue reports

In fact, the 15% setting is itself new. It was 5% before Sublevel asked, so I tried rasing it to 15% and rebuilding the index, but it turns out the word "submachine" is (surprisingly) really common around here. I'm currently rebuilding the index at 20%, we'll see if it works. Edit: So, 20%...

Re: News

Not exactly. By the language of he law on presidential pensions, according to this video , formers presidents get the full benefits unless they're removed from office by being impeached and convicted. It's a fairly small part of the wording, but the law effectively asks "How did the president's...

Re: The third administration: Welcome, dev & issue reports (downtime scheduled for 2021-02-09 18:00 to 20:00 UTC)

Good news - I finally figured out a way to verify the new certificate for the server package manager, meaning I can - at last - proceed with the version upgrade.

To facilitate the upgrade I'm scheduling downtime from 18:00 to 20:00 UTC on 2021-02-09.

Re: The third administration: Welcome, dev & issue reports

Yes, sorry about the (ongoing) delay. Status is still that I know how to fix it, but the fix is a potential security issue. Right now I'm also in the middle of finals (conveniently placed after the holidays, not before), but I'll try to get around to it the moment they're done (in seven days).

Re: News

So, violence in the US Capitol building. I think most of our membership resides in Europe, but those of you who do live in the US - good luck, whatever happens, stay safe, et cetera.

Re: The third administration: Welcome, dev & issue reports

Sure, done.

Jatsko, thank you for filling WiQ in. WiQ, indeed I'm not getting any other reports about this error, so I would propose trying to clear cache, use another browser, trying incognito mode and so forth.

Re: The Big Game [title inside] [name reveal at https://youtu.be/Fu1snI1M3Wo]

Exiting.

I'm keeping the game title out of the thread title for the next day or so, to give everyone an opportunity to see the trailer first. Hope you don't mind.

Re: The third administration: Welcome, dev & issue reports

Nope, haven't even googled the problem until just now. Having reproduced the error, taken a dive into the logs, and done some googling, it seems the error is about a "secret" phpBB dependency - or maybe semi-dependency, where it doesn't need it, but works faster if it's present - on a php ...
