Luke examines the jar. It's too heavy to carry, but he can take one of the nails.

They examine the big box in front of them. It can be opened with no trouble: it seems to be some sort of big cube-shaped trunk, with velvet-lined interior. But there is nothing inside. Why did they left this here...?

Hatch? What hatch... Oh.

Image

Moving the box has indeed revealed a hidden hatch! Luke missed it because it blends too well with the floor. That could be the alternate way out they have been looking for!

They examine it, ready to use the flashlight in case something suddenly jumps out of it.

Image

Unfortunately, the hatch appears to be locked...

Command: both: examine hatch more closely. Is it rectangle hole to the right from hatch's handle?

Ian and Luke take a closer look at the hatch. The trunk has protected it from the dust. It looks like it was made to blend with the floor around it, as if whoever built it wanted it to be concealed from view. How strange...

The small black rectangle to the right of the handle seems to be a keyhole. Luke knows that this type of lock is impossible to lockpick, so they will need a key to open it.

Command: take all nails out from jar. Maybe key is at the bottom, beneath the horde of nails
:D
