The reason they were removed if I can recall correctly was specifically Theta's pushing it far too over the line. It was pretty big and distracting, but honestly it wasn't that much worse than the ever growing banner sizes.
I don't believe it was me, large signatures are a particular pet peeve of mine. Are you sure it wasn't someone else?

I could have sworn it was you. But all I remember is it was a metal fan signature picture. Like, including the pun of it being an actual metal fan and stuff.

Can't we make a rule, like "allowed signatures with images smaller than 600 X 100" or something like that?

This is unbelievable... one of the most difficult captcha i've ever seen, and bots still manage to put spam? D:
