Really glad this project is going again! I'm currently learning Visual Basic, and looking on youtube, there seems to be some room for making very basic games with it. So, if possible, I might be able to knock up a prototype of some description. Probably not suitable for the final game, or anything with really complex puzzles, but might be useful just to see how things are layed out?

Pretty sure that Unity is the best option. It's portable and people have been migrating to it from flash.

I'm somewhat skeptical to unity. Isn't it primarily a 3d engine?
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, if the old boss had been an octahedron, which they weren't.

Yeah, but it can be used for 2D, there is plenty of examples: http://unity3d.com/showcase/gallery

Unity seems fine, I've heard it's easier to learn than Flash.

warp point isn't portal that moves you in different location. It has pocket dimension/loop/how the hell is it officially called?? effect. You can build there giant area with main labs and generator of "endless energy". And this area, independently of its size, can be places in such small location.
And its entrance is its exit.

at least that's my idea.
