I saw Valerian and liked it. I mean it's definitely the... "fun" kind of movie, but reviews describing it as a "dumb as shit" kind of movie don't do it justice. The plot is some Avatar/ 5th Element hodgepodge, however self-awareness seems to have stepped in so that the movie focuses more on interesting and sometimes pretty innovative concepts and designs. I also thought Valerian and his partner Laureline were nicely written and casted and felt close to their comic book counterparts.

Tbh I enjoyed this more than the last two Star Wars movies, which felt pretty sterile and boring to me.

JJ Abrams confirmed to direct Star Wars IX, I guess.

Enough of this bullshit.

Here's one of the more interesting trailers I've seen in a while: for a movie called "A Quiet Place"

(worth a watch, but more importantly, a listen)

just got done. so, what are my thoughts?
to be honest, in the beginning I already expected them to screw it all up; but it turns out they did a really good job! I'm pretty happy with how this season progressed.
they didn't fall into the trap of following a few stupid tropes, which was nice. so it spared me the inevitable facepalm of second-hand embarrassment and shouts of "OH MY GOD WHAT ARE YOU DOING THAT'S SO STUPID", which is also very nice. am pleased.
also pretty pleased with the characters, save for a few instances.

would I recommend it? yes. was it the best thing ever? no, but still pretty damn good. am I a fangirl? maybe just a lil teeny tiny bit.
