Re: SUBMACHINE: The Movie Series (superfanfic text story)
Here's a fun video I found some days ago, while I was writing the plot for the first movie (although I had the characters already planned since 2010 or so)

Re: SUBMACHINE: The Movie Series (superfanfic text story)
SUBMACHINE 3
THE LOOP
The film starts with a series of short flashbacks telling the story of the lighthouse.
1857
Sir Henry O'Toole is on the entrance of the Kent lighthouse, surrounded by lots of people, in what it seems the inaugural ceremony for the building. He says a mitic phrase: "This lighthouse will be a referential point for the history of our nation, and for the history of science".
~1910s
The same place is shown, but now there's a guy with a doctor's coat with the name 'Dr. Mansfield' on it, in front of a more reduced group of people. He's telling them today was a big day for the Kent lighthouse, as it became now the operative center for the "research group", and that it would be used to research about a science that "would change world's conception of physics".
1973
We can recognize the face of Wolfgang, our beloved lighthousekeeper from Sub2, cooking his meal, and suddenly a man with a doctor coat passes by behind him. Wolfgang hears a noise, and when he turns back, the man has disappeared.
1990
Wolfgang is already tired of seeing Einstein, the cat, tricking him again and again and he decides to throw it off the lighthouse to the sea, hoping he will die. When Einstein falls to the water, the scene changes to night and it travels to
2039
Mike surges from the water in which he fell seconds ago, totally nervous and exalted. He first tries to get to the rocks and breathes heavily. As there is no exit upwards, he wanders the edges of the cliff and eventually he finds a hole near the water surface. He examines, and he realizes it's a tunnel below the water level. He decides to enter, diving, and towards the end there is a trapdoor in the ceiling. When he crosses it, he's at another tunnel level but without water. In the end there's another kind of lift, that leads him at an extremely fast speed deeper and deeper on the ground.
When the lift stops, the room has expanded, and now there are several more rooms at every side, all of them equal. He explores some of them, and suddenly he finds a man in one of them. Mike attacks him, and asks him what is happening and why is he there. When the man manages to calm Mike down, he explains his name is Bob and he doesn't know anything he is asking. And if he helps him to get out of there, he promises he will explain the few things he knows. Mike accepts and they start solving puzzles.
Every time they solve a set of rooms, the lift they take goes deeper below extremely fast, in a speed a normal lift couldn't even possibly travel. Bob tells Mike they are in a loop, a set of infinite rooms all equal where every level is not actually deeper on the ground, but in another kind of place (He probably refers to dimension). As the word implies, the only way to get out of there is to 'break' the loop.
As they keep solving puzzles, Mike gets impressed at how efficiently Bob solves them and he suspects he might know more than he says, and starts doubting about his will to escape. At some point, Mike prevents him to stop taking lifts and treats him, making Bob finally tell him the truth.
Bob is an engineer who knows the structure of that loop, and the modus operandi of the other places such as the basement or the lighthouse. He says it's a net of man-made structures built to test some scientific topics such as quantum physics and teleportation, but he didn't work any of that and he can't tell him how exactly do they work. Mike asks what happened with Lisa and Hugh, and Bob says they are probably with the man who has kidnapped his father, known as 'M'. Mike requests Bob to help him find them, but he says he can't, because if he does so, he probably will get killed.
Mike then, in a rage attack, with the current level they are on with the puzzles solved, takes the lift to the next level without Bob, leaving him alone there. Then he solves the remaining levels alone, with more difficulty, with evident signs of hunger and dehydration. In the last level, he finds a note by 'M' telling him to get the leave at (-12,9), because it will save his life. But when he's about to solve the puzzle and putting the leave to get out, Bob's figure emerges behind Mike and sedates him, leaving clear he was the one who also sedated him at the Ancient Ruins. The scene fades to black.
