One other reason for the funky spelling is that English orthography goes history over pronunciation. Hence doubt, not dout, because the root is the same as in double, the many silent e cases and everything.

It seems to me it gets quiet in the forum on Saturdays. I wonder why.

I haven't noticed that. To me it seems like every day.

Nah, most weekdays, If I leave the forum alone for a few hours or so, when I come back, there'll be new posts on 3 or 4 topics.
Now, it's more like 1 post after every few hours.

Well, it can be that we go out more on Saturdays because we don't have school/uni/work. For example, on weekdays I have to stay in the computer very often because I have to do homework, on Sundays too because of Mondays, so Saturday and Friday evenings are like my free days.

Oh. So, Saturday is also the forum's day off.

Come on... I'm not really that important
in fact, I think I'm now one of the users who contributes the least, pretty much the only I do is to keep conversations active and comment on your new content. Now that exams are over I'll try to contribute more, but that doesn't mean I can even equiparate to Kakama, or Sublevel, or Rooster, or you, those people are who really keep the forum alive. It's not modesty, I don't really think the forum can't work without me XD
