wow, maybe...
wait, so what about this:
The only option was to meet him at the knot. The place where all dimensions intertwined to become one
Where is this place?

Edit:
Isn't temple like big knot?
Image
all seven layers are in the same place AND the whole temple has the same structures in all layers. But in some places there's some kind of divergence (moments with navigator puzzles)

Section 9 of the Plan? The Core?

The bullets are in the Core, but I think that was more when he was escaping. Then they met him again at the Temple, as the drawing above suggests.

Yes, but when did he die?
Hope we get some answers from Subgod come Sub 10...

EDIT: the secret area notes in Sub 9 suggest that people wanted Murtaugh dead, but Liz stopped them. He also avoided all the bullets heading his way by switching to 8th Layer, it seems to me...

Thoughts on this?

SECOND EDIT: "They didn't have 7-Layer bullets then."
>Implying 7-Layer bullets were created at some point later to kill people in all 7 Layers. Rendering them dead 7 times over!
So that's why Mur used Layer 8 to stay alive...!

Note said The bullets never reached them.
Does it mean that they didn't shoot? or they shot, but couldn't hurt Mur and Liz?

The latter. They were shot but dodged them all by not being at the layer the bullets were on.
Again, I'd like to draw attention to the SEVEN LAYER BULLETS! Made specifically to kill people who can jump layers like Mur or Liz (implied).

All the more evidence that this Shiva group that Mur and Liz are idols of was more on the fringe and remains so.

What do you mean by "fringe" exactly, Anteroinen?

That they are some group that doesn't have majority support. Probably related to the whole Shiva thing, too, considering Shiva is a god of destruction. Perhaps their ideologies are nihilistic and destructive on some level. Sure they would write nice things into their own shrine but that doesn't really tell a lot. In fact, I've begun considering that there are many lies or gross oversimplifications said in the temple. I mean, some of the things conflict in some ways with Murtaugh's own writings!

At the very least we know that bullets were made, that can fight Mur and people like him. Their followers are probably not universally liked even now. Maybe it is a conflict of religion and technology. As many others have pointed out we've come from science and computers to the realm of the metaphysical. This is an interesting mechanic that could go in many ways, but there is not much time to flesh out this conflict, is there? I don't know if Mateusz will do that. But that would be a nice face-heel-turn-moment, like he has been doing every episode now. First Mur is good, then evil, then misunderstood, then suddenly he is dead.

I don't think seven layer bullets actually existed. I would like to think it was a metaphor Mateusz used to imply that back then, they were only chasing Murtaugh through one layer but he was already in all of them, and when he switched to Layer 8 it was even more impossible to kill him.
