Vortex and Sublevel work for an intelligence agency who are researching into a supposed "game developer" and "graphic novelist." Over the last few years, an agency planning to cease power over the planet has been studying social interaction of varying kinds, to better prepare for maintaining control and order in the aftermath. These forums have been selected as a branch of the online subdivision, and have been actively montored by lurking agents. Furthermore, to further broaden the results, some effort has been put into micro-manipulating different aspects through database instrusions and occasional one-off accouns. However, this would prove to have unexpected consequences, and accidentally triggered the must-not-be-spoken-of wars. Realizing that letting the boards degenerate into a permantent flaming zone would rob them of a valuable source of data, even more effort was put into micromanipulating things back on track. To maintain control of the atmosphere, two prominent accounts were chosen to be taken under the executive control of the agency. The owners of said accounts were terminated along with people close enough to notice, and their online accounts were taken over by agency agents. Since then, they have been used for more prominent experiments, usually under the control of several agents each. Today, however, they were short of staff, forcing a single one of them to man the entire pastel operation, thus only allowing one account to be active at a time.

This was much before the situation. After that, two waves of deadly robots have invaded the Lands of Pastel and killed most of its users. These two agency agents work to maintain now the very few that still survives to date. Most of current users are only soulless machines: An accounter divice, a fast combat bionic robot and a cubic scanner. Some of them are still real people, but they don't have the power to maintain the network. Its said that the elders gave their powers and knowledge because these two agents where too importants. One reached the "elite" rank in less time than the elders, in about only one year, while the other has full knowledge of the lands and knows all its secrets. Thats it, the devasting nature of this world. Those agents have each an evil counterpart. Tough these evil counterparts are strong to take the entire lands, the agents have great manipulative powers over the accounts. However thats was before the sutuation too and the evil can back soon. However, the soulless are still powerfull enough to help them. About the deadly robots, the mighty Subgod. Subgod is a powerfull entity, he created the whole lands of pastel and some users rind cult to him. Between them, the agents. The agents are the unique humans that still rind cult to Subgod. Thats why after all the events Subgod choose them. They are the choosen ones. And this is why they can't see them eachother, thats why they can't conect to the lands at the same time, because there can't be two "choosen ones" at the same time. The Subgod have to split their souls to the half so their bodies can at least exist, but as their souls have been in that split states, they have to co-exist each other to protect the lands, and at the same time being separated to protect them.
Doesn't matter if there are active or not, they are immortal right now, and both have Karmic powers, to reach any side of the lands as they wish. With the knowledge of the elders, the will of the Subgod and the Karma Powers, the agents will keep the Lands of Pastel alive.
