I think so, Mateusz said in a post that reality was divided into layers, and the Subnet was a part of that reality. (looks like reading all those forum posts in the wiki does pay off XD)

I am not sure. We just finished Murtaugh's story, yet Kent is the beginning.

Which leads to another question: Is the Subnet a physical part of our world, or a separate part on another "dimension", but still connected to the world, so that each Layer is composed of one world and one Sub? Kinda like:
Possibility 1) Inside a Layer, there are two "dimensions" which are the World and the Sub. They do not physically meet, but can be acessed within the same layer. To acess another World or Sub from another layer, jumping between them is needed, so that a World can never be separated from its Subnet, due to GODLY UNKNOWN FORCES OF UNKOWN-ITY
Possibility 2) Each Layer is only one "dimension", and the World and the Sub are physically connected somehow. This way, layer-jumping is the only real teleportation method between "dimensions". However, if that's that, then either the Sub is indeed located on the underground of the planet, or somewhere else entirely, although this would be very unlikely
I believe the first possibility is much more likely to be true than the second one, even though we are yet to comprehend how does the relation of World, Subnet, Layers and Reality work.

Noticed this just now while replaying Sub 9.
The symbols on the outside of the pyramid, before you go through the tunnel inside, are similar to the symbols from
these.

http://submachine.wikia.com/wiki/The_Ziggurat
http://submachine.wikia.com/wiki/The_Pit
The same sort of symbol, as well as red themed area (from the pyramid) can be found here.

Good catch!
I don't think they have much significance, but it could be that the same cult that made the Pyramid also made those locations.

Oh, btw,
http://submachine.wikia.com/wiki/The_Ziggurat also has that weird ladder, which is also seen in Sub 6, during the parts with the DefSys Turret and MainFrame. Probably meant for SubBots, yeah?
But what do SubBots have to do with The Ziggurat?
I know this is only slightly off-topic, but it still relates to Sub 9 indirectly...

I don't think symbols have some great meaning. My opinion.
Subbots... Weirdest things, lol, because we still didn't find direct evidence of their actual existence.
In main series, as I remember, we only time read about mysterious "maintenance units", but still...

You think he was/is ETERNAL being? And Liz too?..
And even if they could somehow live forever, I think they didn't want that, because to live forever - it is VERY heavy and painful deal.

Um actually no, I just asked how did Mur and Liz died and why. Literally. Like, if the bullets didn't kill him, what killed him?
Edit: oh wait are you telling me they died of age? Lol rly
