In sub 6, you go to a place where intruders would go, not where the bots who had valid ids would go.

In sub 8, you are switching between layers and I don't think subbots can travel through them.
but why would the notes be touched? they are inorganic and may be perceived as just part of the location.

But wouldn't the SubBots notice if anything was different or out of place, like a note? Especially if the SubBots do routine checks in each location.

There's also the possibility that something's up with the SubBots, preventing them from doing their job. The probability that we haven't run into one yet is pretty high as it is.

Subbots are only in our imagination.

Well we did shutdown the mainframe. As in the whole edge, this may include subbots. What is hard about this is that we hardly know anything about them.

Hm ok

It was always something that tickled my mind, why there was something fishy about the notes. But we'll see, I guess.

Speaking of this, a thought crosses my mind now.

If Murtaugh is already long dead and gone when The Player reaches the Temple...
This means that Murtaugh has already died *prior* to the events of Sub8, Sub7 and previous, up to Sub1?

But if Murtaugh was dead, then...
Who was phone in the end of Sub6? o_O
(and the whole of Sub4 as well)

Either this means that we were talking to a fake, a pre-recorded message of sorts, or that we had an enormous time leap from Sub6 to Sub7 or Sub7 to Sub8.
My poor mind ;_;

What I think is that time was moving normally from Sub4-Sub7 but when we go into the karma portal and move through the layer, time is distorted. Time in all the layers could be moving at different speeds, the main evidence for this is layer 8 when time has stopped or is moving very slowly.
Remember, layers are a process of our perception, seen when we have to put the electrodes on our heads, so only we would be affected while real time could be moving around us, giving time for Liz and Mur to die.
...or they could be very old or could have some disease which would lead to early deaths.

Its a pretty open ended question.

Or maybe, we don't know how much time has passed since the Defence System shutdown. Maybe we spent some decades inside the computer...

Either this means that we were talking to a fake, a pre-recorded message of sorts,
Mur could have easily recorded that message after infiltrating the mainframe for the first time.

Perhaps. But without food or water (At least not visible within the game's screens)? I find it unlikely. It's probably either a time jump between The Edge and The Core (Teleportation to the Winter Garden) or The Core and The Plan (Freakin' Huge Green Karma Portal Of Ultimate Destiny and Justice), or a time distortion caused by the layers.

Or, like Engineer said, age or health issues that caused both Mur and Liz to die within that time period. But the fact that both of their bodies were already sealed away and the whole of The Temple looks like it hasn't been touched in centuries when The Player gets there leads me to think that there has been indeed a time gap.

In other words, ^this.
