As far as I can tell, if i can only get my hands on a ready-to-run server with all files included, I should be able to upload it to the host. Can this be arranged?

Sorry if I was vauge, I already have. And I have no use for it, so I might as well dedicate it to this. The only problem is I don't have a proper computer at the moment, so while I can use the console and basic config, I can't manage the ftp.

I'm going to talk with my brother about using our older Vista computer as a server runner. That MCPro may be a good back-up in case my brother is against the idea and wants me to do it elsewhere.
But, I'll speak with him over the course of tonight/tomorrow... we'll see what happens.

Or we just use mine, which except for these access issues is paid for, online hosted and one click from startup.

Those in favor of compiling the server so that I can upload it all at once?
Those in favor of using gem's server but only until I can get mine running?
Those in favor of another, more covenient solution of which we have not thought?
