Well, my friend is in (more or less)the same predicament as me (except it was his own fault, because he doesn't have a brother), and he can hack into a safe to get to his modem.

Use compass to find the treasure, open it, then hope it contains a paperclip. If that doesn't work try using a stick as a lock-pick.
