Just Polish weather.
As my geography teacher would say:
Above Poland five masses of air are fighting.
It can be simplest pictured as: one big "oceanic" formation from west, and second "continental" from east. East one is always extremal (very hot or very cold) and west is always "in the middle" not very hot or cold. In the winter "Oceanic" one causes melting of snow, and "continental" causes falling of new snow. Practically every day can be different.
This is very simplified version, but as you see, no aliens are involved.
