- We learn a tiny glimpse into actual purpose of Submachine. If not, then not at all. Ever.
I almost want to say its a path of enlightenment course for those who are initiates for becoming a monk or something like that. Basically a ritual, a set order of trials and tests to become one with whatever religious deity they are wanting to serve.

That is just how Sub9 came across, when it told us that we had achieved the highest level of understanding and enlightenment and if we wanted to leave the structure, to follow Shiva.

But then you have stuff like in Sub8 that talk about the computer, and how computer processing surpassed that of the human mind or whatever it said.

I feel as if we shouldn't be flat out told in the last installment. If there are going to be side installments, then let the truth be give piece by piece with those. That way the main installments can be the big puzzle, with the bigger pieces with the tiny pieces being the side installments.

And then you have Submachine Universe too...

That's a very very good concept of spirituality in Submachine series.

I totally wouldn't mind that, although I do very much like to see some loose ends tied up by the end.

Or complete the Loop 8-)

I don't know, it seems to me that the whole spiritual side is mostly stuff that arose from some type of deification process that Mur and Liz went through. I.e. I think that is just a religious explanation for the Submachine and Murtaugh's powers, not necessarily how it actually works. Sub9 has a few hints of this possibly being a minority perspective too.

Though, I have sort of fallen out of the loop here, so maybe there's been further developments I am not aware of.

I sort of agree, since (unfortunately for this particular aspect) it seems this was never a story about Submachine, more a story about Murtaugh.

I agree with both statements.

For the first, Mateusz we were going back to actual machinery, therefore, we will find out how the things really work and likely see that what we learned in Sub9 was just a perspective.

That brings me back to the idea that each Layer has its own perception of the events depending their behaviour. The way people thought about Liz and Mur in Layer 1, was not obviously the same way as people from Layer 5 did. Maybe what was actualy important in Layer 5 is that people from there had a more positive thinking about Mur.

The main storyline apparently does indeed show more of Mur rather than Submachine itself. This seems to be redundant to the Sub4 note about the scientist trying to find the porpuse of the Submachine, I think this is the turning point where the games proves that trying to find out more about the Submachine itself is useless or porpuseless, instead, we focused in Mur story and followed it, reason we don't want to escape.

A very loose suggestion:

EDITED LINK: The first few seconds of The Prophecy - Asura (make sure it starts at 32:45) might make some great Sub10 Intro music if Thumpmonks ever runs out of ideas :P

God or machine? Faith or technology?

But whose voice do we hear at the end of Sub9?

Either Shiva or the computer mentioned in Sub8.
