The most hateful thing in all languages (well, at least Russian, English and Spanish for me) is you guys set rules for language but HELL why 25% of words and sentences are EXCEPTIONS of rule???

From what I understand, most languages tend to have been much more complicated in the past. Then the words get simplified a lot, except the ones which are most used. So we get a new general rule for not so used words, where exceptions are gonna be precisely the words you will hear the most

Here in Argentina and most of South America we call it "Banana" regardless.
Also in Central America, instead of "Anana" they say "Piña".
Most of the latinoamerican dubbing comes from there, so in TV we mostly hear the words "Plátano" and "Piña", even if we don't call them like that here. XP
