I have the temptation to text AK about the spam, but it doesn't seem as bad to send him a text about it. But then we really don't want to get to the point where the forum is overflowing with spam.

Do you think texting him would be ideal?

At this point I'm a little worried of his sudden inactivity. I would text him if just to know he's ok. It's kind of an invasion of privacy so I don't know, but if he has put his phone in his webpage it means he wouldn't mind being contacted through that channel.

About spam, I found some options:

-Registration by admin: the problem is that the confirmation email would go to all the admins, I don't want Mateusz's email to get flooded with the 5-6 spambots we get in a day.

-Better counterspam system: looked on the Internet and it seems that the most effective system is question&answers. It's the one we have now and it's not working. I've added some more questions about Mateusz's series but it looks like there's no difference.

-New user's privileges: we can effectively hide new user posts until they are approved by a mod. For that I have to tweak the privileges of the "Newly Registered Users" group, and manually remove legit users from there when it becomes clear that they aren't spambots.

-Disabling registration. I don't think this is a good option.

I'm looking for your opinions, what do you guys think it's best? any other ideas?

well, question is WHY "question&answers" system stopped to work?

hmm, I don't know. Maybe because a long time has passed since admins changed them, and spambots have had time to guess the answers. Maybe if I replace the questions completely it will work.

But it also could be that there are humans doing the registration or something.

EDIT: can you PM any ideas for questions about Mateusz's series? they have to be easy so that casual players would guess them quickly, but difficult so that spambots can't google them. I'll try to replace the current questions.

Yeah, make backups for current questions (just in case), and make new.
