Probably because as soon as they start typing it, it is false. Because then they type instead.

Error gets an error.
The post doesn't officially count unless it has been submitted, because before then it only exists on your computer. So if you read while you type, you're not actually reading the thread.
Anyway I'm going to read a textbook.

if you talk "I am reading the book", you should say "I'm talking with you" instead?

I think the title implies anything beside the forum. Therefore, he's reading the book.
