i feel like doing a forum story (or whatever we call those homestuck like things like allukin) because why the hell not. i know they're really kinda old forum but NOSTALGIA so here we go. (i'm not entirely sure I remember how they work but who gives.) it may be occasionally illustrated.

you wake up. your eyes are closed.

Your eyes open.

The Light blinds you eyes.
Then darkness fills the room after your eyes adjust to your waking.

After your awakening, you realize you're hungry.

you go to the fridge to get food. you get out a can of soup, but food's running out.
this is a future in which humans, in order to achieve immortality, have attempted physically cloning theirselves each month, brain and body, and placing those clones in stasis. those clones are then removed from stasis should the individual that they are a clone of die, and a new clone takes their place. clones more than a month old were incinerated. this went well, and extraterrestrial colonization created enough space to accomodate for the lack of death. one day though, out of pure accident, an official released all the clones from stasis. thus was an apocalypse. many clones killed theirselves out of existentialist distress. others attacked the humans who had oppressed them. still others attempted to form their own empire, and soon we were at war with ourselves. were we entitled to kill those who bore our names? our thoughts? our memories? our selves? many thought otherwise, but nonetheless, we had to. there was no way the sudden resource splitting which had previously been so balanced could survive.
the territory we lost was massive. casualties went into the billions.
those who survived are still scared to go outside. we don't know if the enemy still survives; we don't know how much radiation from the bombs there is left. all we know is that we're running out of food fast. the only way to survive?
immortality. we have to find immortality, or else we will die.
you open the can of soup and eat the whole can in two minutes.

Examine your surroundings

you look in the fridge and in the short vicinity.



in the fridge you see multiple cans with faded labels, three bottles of what looks like alcohol, a large bottle of what looks like sparkling water, and something covered in aluminum foil.



the fridge itself is rusty and the paint on it is already a third peeled off the front.

a table lies overturned, a leg broken in two.

a bottle of more alcohol lies on the ground, the bottom smashed. the alcohol lies in a puddle.

there's a couch that's got the stereotypical bad motel look, with the foam and springs poking out. in front f the couch is a crack in the ground.

a door at the far side of the fridge is boarded up with what looks like floor planks. you boarded it up out of sheer paranoia. in front of it, blocking the way, is a drawer completely covered with chains. the chains are held by a bike lock and two combo locks. only one drawer is uncovered by the chains.

at the back-right corner, where paint is peeling and mold is taking it's place, is a trapdoor.

the whole room is illuminated by a bare light dangling from a wire.
