Like I said earlier, I've been rereading The Idiot. It is so much better than I remember from the first time. To put it extremely simply, it's the story of a saintly, sincere, straightforward man with mild epilepsy who becomes entrenched in the sinful, insincere, complex social circles of upper-class 1800's Russia.

The main thing I've noticed is that, this time, I don't like any of the characters except the main character, the saintly guy mentioned above. Everyone else is, in some way or another, riddled with character flaws that keep them from being real good people. At the same time, I can see myself perfectly clearly in every character. Everything about the book is as though it's a commentary on my own life that is just too veiled for me to quite figure out what they're saying. It all seems so close to being explicitly about my life, even though I don't have anything even remotely like the events that take place in there. It's very interesting.
