I remember once (did I share this story already?) it was the middle of summer last year. I usually keep a nightlight on when I go to bed so I can see where I'm going if I get up in the middle of the night (there are a lot of art supplies in my room that I would bump into otherwise).
So anyway I put multiple fans in my rooms and blasted them on high before I went to bed as usual because I like it cold in my room. Therefore I can take full advantage of bundling up in the covers.
Then the power went out in the middle of the night, for some strange reason. It must have been off for an hour or so, because my room warmed right back up to the 80 degrees (Fahrenheit) it was before I put the fans on. Then I woke up, drenched in sweat and suffocating from the covers, unable to see because the nightlight had gone out. I had also managed to fall asleep directly on one of my legs so it had gone numb. Unable to see, I didn't have any sense of direction or balance. It felt like I woke up in some sort of Void/Hell combination.
Eventually I found my phone and was able to see what happened after about five minutes of pure mental chaos
I didn't feel like going back to sleep so I went into the living room to see how many other people in the neighborhood had power outages. I live in a hilly region so the neighborhoods aren't very tightly packed, but I was able to see (or not see) that everyone else's power was out too. It was kinda freaky and cool at the same time.
So, I spent a night being born into the Void on a hot summer day.
