use the grappling hook to get to the other ledge? (I don't have the impression that there is anymore fiddling left to do)

That looks really good. I would say examine that machinery in front of you, but you are probably busy.

So you take a look at the machinery:

Nothing much, just a bunch of pipes behind an oxidising wall (so at least you know there's air coming from somewhere).

Yes, you can try to grapple hook your way up the sideways corridor.
