As Snarr pushes the "Up" Arrow on the (supposed) Elevator, ask why they rebuilt the Base.
60: Why did they rebuild the base?
Snarr: More strategic location near the city.
60: Oh.
Ask about the bases.
60: So, what are the bases?
Snarr: They're places where all aircraft can land. Sometimes spacecraft too. I think what happened was you ship was damaged, and your party tried to land it in the base, but missed.
The elevator stops and opens:

Snarr: Yes, we're close to my reward. It's on the other door, I can feel it. Heck, there are jewels on the floor, so there must be a ton on the other side. Now to open it...
Interesting how it was designed for 60's kind to open though :P
Woot. Trivia.
(Snarr was wrong. The elevator was designed for 60's kind, but to be used by one person at a time. Since the elevator was roomy from Snarr's view, he thought it was designed like a normal elevator, and can fit 2 or more of Snarr's kind)

Open the door
Balance is imperative; without it, total collapse and destruction is imminent.

Open the door
You try prying open the door:

60: No, it's stuck.
Snarr: No, try pulling the lever down.

You pull the lever down, but it only goes about 1/3 way down.
You: I think I can go further, but I'm not strong enough to pull it down with my bare hands.
Snarr: You need more leverage.

Get more leverage. (Try making the lever longer using something)

No you can't make it longer.
Maybe something from your inventory?

1) Crowbar.
2) Interesting Trivia :D
3) Not to burden Snarr, but:
Snarr: More strategic location near the city
Ask Snarr why this was done so immediately if you're not in the middle of any War presently, as 60's kind are.

Inventory
It hasn't changed since you last saw it when both of you jumped into the elevator.
1) Crowbar.
Finally, you put your rarely used crowbar to good use.

And the lever goes all the way down, unlocking the door.
Snarr: More strategic location near the city
Ask Snarr why this was done so immediately if you're not in the middle of any War presently, as 60's kind are.
60: Snarr, why did they shift the base so quickly, if there is no war?
Snarr: Well, they didn't shift it very quickly, the new base was built while the old one was still open. And they gradually closed down the sections of the old base. The last section was still operating when your ship crashed. And it wasn't a big base anyway, just a few small runways and landing docks.
(another thing; your name is NOT 60, but seeing as we call him that, I'm going to stick with that until we find out his REAL name)
